When you meet Bryson Finney, you quickly understand that music is more than just his craft — it’s his calling. As Executive Director of Community Arts Collective in Nashville, Bryson has dedicated his life to using music as a bridge — one that connects people, inspires growth, and strengthens community.
Beyond his leadership, Bryson is also a dear friend to our CTCC family. A longtime friend to Nick (and his best man at our wedding), Bryson has been a guiding influence in our home — especially for our daughters, whose musical journeys have been shaped by his encouragement and example. His steadfast commitment to using the arts to make a difference continues to inspire us deeply.
A Collective for Connection
Community Arts Collective is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in the belief that music has the power to unite.
“We exist to build community through music,” Bryson explains. “We provide equitable access to music experiences, develop musical skills at every level, and create events that bring people together across Middle Tennessee.”
The organization’s mission rests on three pillars: access, development, and community — ensuring that the arts remain reachable, enriching, and inclusive for everyone. From festivals to morning song sessions, every note played and every voice raised is designed to lift those pillars higher.
Collaboration That Amplifies Impact

Partnership is the heartbeat of Community Arts Collective.
“We partner with schools, arts institutions, local businesses, and individual artists to create programming that’s rooted in shared goals—access, development, and community.”
Collaboration takes many forms: co-producing events like the We Are Nashville Festival, sharing rehearsal and performance spaces, cross-promoting community activities, and securing sponsorships that make experiences affordable — or even free — for students.
Bryson shares that initiatives such as Saturday Soundcheck — creative two-hour song sessions for kids — are made possible through these partnerships, where educators, sponsors, and artists come together to lead workshops and remove barriers to participation.
Supporting Nashville’s Creatives

At its core, Community Arts Collective exists not only for students but for artists themselves.
“We support local artists by inviting them to lead workshops and sessions, featuring them on festival stages, and connecting them with schools and youth programs that need teaching artists.”
Artists find more than just performance opportunities — they find a network. Whether leading sessions, mentoring students, or collaborating on new projects, each experience strengthens the fabric of Nashville’s creative ecosystem.
Music in Motion

While the organization’s heart beats in rhythm with music, its programming spans a range of creative experiences — from large-scale festivals to intimate, hands-on workshops.
“Our core is music-based programming, but we focus across a range of formats,” Bryson says. “Many of our workshops are designed in preparation for and during the We Are Nashville Festival, helping students develop musical and performance skills they can showcase on a larger stage.”
The goal is to bridge classroom learning with real-world experience — helping students not only learn music but see themselves as creators and contributors to Nashville’s artistic story.
What’s Next for Community Arts Collective

This spring, the We Are Nashville Festival returns to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center on March 30, uniting student choirs, orchestras, and local artists in a celebration of unity through music.
Meanwhile, the next Saturday Soundcheck session — a hands-on creative song experience for kids — will take place on December 6, in collaboration with local music educators and partnering artists.
To support the mission, community members can:
Attend performances and festivals
Volunteer at programs
Donate directly at communityartsco.org
“Every contribution helps us expand access to music education and creative opportunities for students across Middle Tennessee,” Bryson shares.
Behind the Scenes

When asked what keeps things running smoothly behind the curtain, Bryson smiles:
“Flexibility is everything — partnerships, schedules, and creative ideas evolve quickly. Staying adaptable allows us to keep our programs vibrant and community-centered.”
A Creative Dream
Even with years of musical leadership under his belt, Bryson still has creative aspirations of his own.
“I’ve always wanted to explore collaborative songwriting with a full orchestra — blending classical and contemporary sounds to create something that truly reflects Nashville’s creative spirit.”
From classrooms to concert halls, Bryson Finney and the Community Arts Collective continue to remind us that music is one of the most powerful tools for connection. Their work resonates far beyond melody — it’s a movement, a community, and a reminder that creativity, when shared, truly changes lives. - Created to Create Coalition
